Computer Recycling
How to get rid of old computers and electronics
- Usually once per year, a regional event is held at the Montshire in Norwich (organized by GUVSWD). In 2006, it will take place Saturday October 14th, 9:00am till 12:00 noon.
- GUVSWD District residents may use GUVSWD's computer recycling program.
- Use other services/programs.
- As a last resort, computers and electronics can be put in the trash or in a scrap metal pile, see your normal trash service for information.
Why Recycle Electronics?
- Electronics contain metals, plastic, and a few toxics that should be reclaimed rather than put in the landfill.
- Recycling your computer or TV is one of the things you can do to help stem the need for raw materials, and slow mining and drilling activity.
- Reuse creates 100 times more jobs per ton than landfilling them as trash, and recycling creates 10 times more jobs per ton.
- Sometimes electronics can be reused for parts or resold to folks who don't need the latest and greatest.
